Credit Union Values Resonate to the Values Indigenous Communities Nurture

Together with NATCCO CEO, CEO Leni San Roque presented the credit union advantage for the economic development of people, especially the disadvantaged, in a conference organized by the Commission of Indigenous People of Taiwan on December 15 to 17 in Taoyuan, Taiwan.
The credit union is a model that indigenous people around the world can consider adopting for their economic development. The cooperative values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity reinforce the uniqueness of credit unions. In the tradition of their founders, cooperative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others. These values resonate to the values of indigenous communities need to be preserved and protected. Taiwan’s indigenous people are members to at least 120 credit unions in Taiwan.
